Week That Was (Feb 5 – Feb 11)

This week was kinda boring the whole way through with not much happening and then BAM…all the drama came through right at the tail end just to keep me on my damn toes. Phew. But it kicked off with Matthew Cherry starting the hashtag  #JanetJacksonAppreciationDay which just so happened to take place on Super Bowl Sunday. Where some douchebag was performing. Some douchebag who royally screwed her some 14 years earlier. So many people ask me why I hate said douchebag soooo much and this is a pretty good place to start if you want a rundown. Also…

Week That Was (Jan 22 – Jan 28)

This week gave us both an awards show AND some nominations so I was a happy lady for the most part. Sure there were some disappointments (can’t win ’em all) but there were also some major happy surprises. Duh, the Oscar nominations were announced, by the delightful Tiffany Haddish! She is so damn charming and hilarious, she actually made these usually boring announcements entertaining. That is no mean feat. I want her to host an awards show now. Now, let’s recap the nominations – Get Out was nominated for four massive awards – Screenwriting, Directing…

Week That Was (Jan 15 – Jan 21)

After a very busy and stressful few weeks, my life seems to fiiiinally be calming down. Not that I mind the busy busy-ness (because it leads me to work events on boats and running into Novak Djokovic in my hotel on work trips), but I have needed some proper hardcore downtime. Which I have had in spades this weekend. In fact, today I spent about an hour giving myself a home version facial (clay mask that I left on 20 minutes too long + organic cloth coconut face mask + ultra hydrating moisturiser + smaller pores I HOPE), plus watching all of…

Week That Was (Jan 8 – Jan 14)

Aiight, got a lightning-fast speed round of updates for this week. I am in Melbourne for work and a bit exhausted and catching up on sleep from this massive week. I love Melbourne and I love my job but I am very sleepy (pretty much at all times) right now and what with red carpet stuffs, RHOBH recaps, tracking Hollywood’s gross men and having an actual day job – issa bit much this week. On the bright side: Novak Djokovic is staying at my hotel and just walked right past me ten minutes ago out the front…

Week That Was (Dec 11 – Dec 18)

Just a quickie this week! Some dummies, some snubs, some saving graces. I guess life is about balance. First up – PROFESSIONAL WASTE OF BREATH, MANSPLAINER MATT DAMON! Now those of us who have been paying attention know that Matt has been problematic af since he interrupted successful black female producer Effie Brown to explain diversity to her, but he’s done it again and maybe this time he won’t get another pass? I don’t know why he’s so lauded as such a nice guy, he’s a white-mansplaining dick and…

Week That Was (Dec 3 – Dec 10)

BUCKLE UP, IT WAS A *WEEK* AND THE DISAPPOINTMENT WAS *REAL*. JK Rowling JK devastated me and destroyed a part of my fantasyland happy universe when she finally spoke out about Johnny Depp’s controversial casting in Fantastic Beasts 2…and defended him AND director David Yates’ casting decision. Within her statement, she also manipulated and picked apart Amber Heard and Johnny Depp‘s joint statement following their divorce to such an extent that she completely misrepresented the message it actually communicated. Which Amber angrily responded to on Instagram. Of course, the bits JK lifted from…

Week That Was (Nov 4 – Nov 11)

Hmmm what happened this week in the land of pop culture? The Hollywood rapist list grows, the maybe-final-ep of UNHhhh landed on my birthday (bittersweet), and Britney Spears is an artist now. You know, the usual. First off, some more names to add to the list of gross abusers in LaLa Land. Ed Westwick has now been accused by two women of rape, Charlie Sheen was probably confirmed as the perpetrator of a long-existing rumour that he was the king of a pedo ring that preyed on young boys in Hollywood, Louis CK was outed (AGAIN) as…

Week That Was (Oct 28 – Nov 3)

Another week, another slew of gross men in Hollywood who have been revealed as abusers. Really keen for the focus to eventually shift onto literally every other industry of all time as well as this is NOT unique to LaLa Land. Also Halloween happened and there mayyyy have been some celeb romantic reconciliations coz…’tis the season I guess? The holiday season? Where people remember that they love each other and forget all the awful things about the other person that made them end their relationship. SEEMS HEALTHY. Dustin Hoffman disappointed a loooooot of people when news hit…

Week That Was (Sept 30 – Oct 6)

Full disclosure – I totally forgot about wrapping up the week this week. When I wracked my brain to update y’all on the big pop culture news that happened, I realised no big pop culture news happened. A tragedy happened, and America still has guns. I guessed they missed the memo that banning guns tends to end mass shootings and murder. Then again, if Sandy Hook didn’t change anything in the US, nothing will. But I’m just here for the celebs. Eh. But really, we all need our bright shining lights of joy to…

Week That Was (Sept 16 – Sept 22)

Obviously LOTS HAS HAPPENED this week, because, Emmys. So you’re mostly covered heading into the weekend. But there’s more where that came from. James Corden took the Jimmy Fallon route of how to approach anyone connected with the vile bigoted hateful dangerous Trump organisation and thought it was be *cute* to mack on with Sean Spicer at one of the Emmys after party. Twat. He really should’ve thought twice about it too, because look how well it went for Fallon. Also apparently Spicer’s appearance was Stephen Colbert’s idea. Even Colbert…
